In Dallas, summer and shorts just go together. Summer shorts are a necessity with our hot Texas sun! We’ve been pushing 100’s throughout the summer. But as a 5’9 girl with long legs, it can be hard to find shorts that aren’t too short. I thought I would round up my favorite summer shorts from dressy to casual and give a few styling tips as well. These tips will take a basic pair of shorts to the next level.
Dressy Summer Shorts
I’m in love with these shorts from Zara. They are the perfect length to wear with a cute pair of esmeraldas like the ones pictured from Zara. The key to elevating your summer short game is accessorizing. Whenever I wear neutral colors like white and black it’s fun to add a few more accessories to the outfit. The key is having go-to gold dainty necklaces on hand. I wear these accessories on repeat so it’s a good idea to invest in nicer jewelry so that they don’t tarnish (I speak from experience). Also, thick chunky belts are great way to accentuate the waist for a look like this.
Here’s the same Zara shorts in white. When I find a good pair of summer shorts I tend to buy them in every color. These shorts are a great staple piece for every girl’s closet because they are so versatile. I like that you can dress them up with a blazer or dress them down with a black tee or tank top.
Casual Summer Shorts
Lake days are my fav! My family and I have lived on the lake for the last 11 years. When you’re by the water, I have found that SIMPLE outfits are the best way to go…but that doesn’t mean you can’t look cute too. Again, it’s all about the accessories!! Gold layered necklaces, hoop earrings, and Ray Bans are such a simple way to play up your lake day summer shorts look. Just throw on you’re swimmie underneath a strapless top to avoid awkward tan lines.
Here’s the same shorts with a white button-down tee. This is a great way to transition your favorite shorts into fall. Especially when it’s still 90 degrees in September (#Dallas).
Hope these summer shorts styling tips help!
