Our Rescue

Saved: keep safe or rescue (someone or something) from harm or danger.

.

When we place our faith in Jesus he rescues us from the harm and danger that we place ourselves in because of our sin. In the Bible, there is a metaphor that compares us to sheep 🐑 and compares Jesus to a shepherd.

.

Honestly, being compared to sheep is a little bit of a dig on our intelligence lol 😜 because sheep are one of the dumbest animals around. But God’s right…I mean how many times are we following Jesus and then we become distracted and run off in a different direction?

.

But Luke 15:4-5 is such an encouraging reminder of how Jesus pursues us even when we aren’t pursuing him.

.

Luke 15:4-5 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home.”

.

Jesus loves us so much, and he wants to rescue every single one of us, putting us on His shoulders and carrying us home. Jesus relentlessly pursues us because His love has no conditions.

.

When we are rescued, may we keep our eyes laser focused on the Great Shepherd, listening to His voice and following Him.

.

John 10:27

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
