Perseverance- Keep Doing Good | Harvest Devotional

Harvest Season- Keep Doing Good… because it’s worth it!

Some days are harder than others, but I believe it’s all about perspective and kicking off the day in a way that will keep us motivated! For me that’s my quiet time! It puts my heart in the right spot and prepares me for whatever the day may bring. Wanted to take a minute and share what inspired me this morning.?

Galatians 6:9??
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Sometimes in life we want to jump straight to the harvest season! But the harvest doesn’t come immediately after the seeds are planted…it takes time! I love how the Bible can be applied to all of our lives! Maybe this verse reminds you of persevering at work, in ministry (witnessing to others), in school, in sports… the list goes on.

No matter what area of life it may be for you, it’s so easy to become discouraged in the area of diligence. We feel like we’ve been putting in the work and persevering but things just aren’t happening soon enough. We’re like “God hello, can You hurry this along?” Then we read a verse like Galatians 6:9 where God simply asks us to continue to do good regardless of how long we’ve been waiting (even when one week feels like forever).

One of my mentors gave me this one-liner the other day and it really encouraged me:

“Your faithfulness is to God not to anyone or anything else.”

If this is the mindset we adopt in life then when our plans gets interrupted or when circumstances get messy we won’t be shaken. Bottom line: Our faithfulness is for God’s glory not an earthly reward.

God promises that despite the struggle, the harvest will come. On earth? Maybe! God often blesses us here for our faithfulness to Him. But without a doubt we will definitely be rewarded in Heaven which is the ultimate! Although, it’s not about a reward, we do good because we LOVE GOD! Bottom line, our goal is to keep doing good and trusting Him out of love.

So what does doing good look like? As I study this passage, I see that doing good is about faithfulness, diligence and exercising a whole lot of patience! If you’re waiting for your harvest and it feels like it’s been a long time coming remember that God has perfect timing! He knows and sees things that we don’t have a clue about. Clinging to the truth that God causes ALL things… not just some things… but ALL things to work for the good of those who love Him is so comforting (Romans 8:28).

When we keep our eyes on God He can use every season, every day, and every moment to mature us in the faith and make us more like His Son! And no matter what our circumstances may be, we can have joy when we give our burdens to God and TRUST that He’s got a plan.

Whatever season of life you find yourself in today, remember that God is faithful! Let’s keep living for Him knowing that we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.?
